Health Update 26 August 2006 Dear Friends of My Mother: I write this letter to all of you worldwide who have expressed an interest in knowing more about my mother’s health and her care. I appreciate the thoughtful suggestions that you sent in response to my last e-mail, in which I informed you that my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I have some encouraging news. On Tuesday, August 15, my mother underwent surgery to remove the cancer. The surgeons found no evidence that the cancer had spread. The surgery was performed at Bozeman Deaconness Hospital. Mother was hospitalized afterwards for three nights. She has been home now for a week, and is walking, eating and sleeping normally. She is not in any pain. In fact, other than the anesthetic, she did not have to take any pain medication. The surgeon was also able to determine, after removing the tumor, that it was malignant. Therefore, I believe we made the right decision for her to have the surgery. I chose not to inform you until the surgery had been completed as I wanted to preserve her privacy. Thank you all for your prayers and e-mails of love and support. I will keep you posted as more information is available. With love, Erin
